William S. Corinek

Dr. Korinek, currently the CEO of Astrocyte Pharmaceuticals, co-founded the company in 2014, bringing with him a wealth of experience from the pharmaceutical industry. Before Astrocyte, he spent nearly a decade at Pfizer, where he held various strategic and operational roles in R&D, culminating in his position as Vice President of Worldwide R&D Business Operations. In this role, he was pivotal in managing the annual operating plan for Pfizer's worldwide R&D, coordinating investment plans across all research units and setting budget targets. His extensive experience spans early discovery to full development, across both small and large therapeutic modalities and various disease areas.

Prior to his tenure at Pfizer, Dr. Korinek was an Engagement Manager at L.E.K. Consulting, a strategy consultancy, where he supported approximately 40 life sciences companies, ranging from biotech startups to large pharmaceutical firms. Dr. Korinek's deep industry insight is further enriched by his academic achievements, including earning a Ph.D. from Harvard University’s Molecular and Cellular Biology Department. His broad experience and strategic acumen have been instrumental in guiding Astrocyte Pharmaceuticals from its inception through its ongoing development and success in the pharmaceutical industry.
